  1. 'If you cannot explain something simply, you do not understand it well enough' is attributed, probably apocryphally, to Einstein

    No primary Einstein source exists. WIST Quotations lists it as 'Attributed (no source found)'; the closest documented remark is in Ronald W. Clark, Einstein: The Life and Times (1972), that physical theories should be simple enough 'that even a child could understand them'. Rutherford's 'barmaid' remark is a likely ancestor (n/a)
